Hartsville fire fighters fight early morning fire
Roger Johnson, State Fire Marshal, sent in these two pictures
of an early morning fire that Hartsville, Hope,Clifford, Elizabethtown, Clay
Township (Bartholomew County), and Burney-Clay Twp. (Decatur Twp.) responded to
on January 22 near Hartsville on SR46 east of Columbus. One person was injured
as he tried to remove a burning bed from the residence. A delay in sounding the
alarm was attributed to the fire gaining momemtum prior to the arrival of first
due apparatus. A passing motorist reported the fire.
The fire is under investigation, however a space heater close to the bed is of
prime interest.
